What Is Examined in the Edexcel A Level Business Paper 1?

  • This paper is focused on Theme 1 (Marketing & People) and 4 (Global Business)
  • The paper's duration is two hours
  • The total number of marks available is 100
  • Paper 1 represents 35% of the qualification total
  • It is made up of two sections:

Section A

  • Section A contains Question 1
  • Question 1 consists of five sub-questions
    • Two 4-mark explain or calculate questions
    • One 10-mark assess question
    • One 12-mark assess question
    • One 20-mark evaluate question
  • All questions are based on a series of unseen extracts, which provide data and information on one or more local, national or global contexts
    • Section A tends to have a local context
  • You must answer all questions

Section B

  • Section B contains Question 2
  • Question 2 consists of five sub-questions
    • Two 4-mark explain or calculate questions
    • One 10-mark assess question
    • One 12-mark assess question
    • One 20-mark evaluate question
  • All questions are based on a series of unseen extracts, which provide data and information on one or more local, national or global contexts
    • Section B tends to have a national or global focus
  • You must answer all questions
