Paper 2 Question 1 is designed to settle you down into the exam, so even though it is only worth 4 marks, these should be easy marks to pick up, as long as you read the statements carefully.
This guide will show you an example of this question, taken from the June 2019 AQA GCSE English Language paper, along with suggested answers.
It includes:

| B Ben usually rowed the sunrise shift | TRUE - “As always, I had the sunrise shift |
| C The waves were starting to calm down | FALSE - “The swell had grown” |

| E If it were light, Ben thought he would be able to judge the danger | TRUE - “If we can just make it to daybreak…it will be easier to read the waves” |
| F Ben felt homesick | TRUE - “I thought of my wife, back at home. I longed to be with her…” |
| G Ben was enjoying this early morning shift | FALSE - “I longed to be with her and away from this intimidating ocean” |
| H There was no sign of daybreak | FALSE - “As I rowed, a barely perceptible blue hue appeared on the skyline” |
