About

Education and work

  • Sam has a certificate in Early Years Foundation literacy and studied English Language and Literature at the Open University, where she received a First Class Bachelor of Arts with Honours. Thereafter, Sam trained in secondary education and received her teaching qualification from Bedfordshire Teacher Partnership. She worked in schools in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Norfolk, holding numerous roles, including KS3 curriculum lead, Head of GCSE English, lead A Level Language, and teacher trainer with OFSTED.

  • Sam has worked as an English GCSE examiner for AQA and Cambridge iGCSE.

Student and teacher Success

  • Sam’s passion and dedication for education is applied across a range of contexts and settings, using her adaptability, vast experience and professional knowledge and expertise to help a variety of students. 

  • As KS3 lead, Sam focused on the transition of Year 6 students into Year 7, as well as introducing a literacy program that encouraged, very successfully, the reading autonomy and habits of Year 8 and 9 students. 

  • As GCSE manager, Sam improved GCSE headline statistics year upon year over eight years, and during some challenging times. Sam improved the Grade 7-9 results, as well as raising attainment for Level 4 students consistently. Sam mentored trainee teachers, and was graded Outstanding by OFSTED for mentorship and progression. 

  • As GCSE manager, Sam delivered a vast range of CPD to staff in and outside the classroom, and was responsible for creation, delivery and performance of four curricula remotely and in-school, as well as managing the behaviour, special needs, attainment and curriculum for a cohort of 900 students.
