Education and Teaching experience

  • Richard studied a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry at the University of Aberdeen, followed by a PGCE in Secondary Science with post-16 enhancement. Since then, he has worked as a Teacher of Chemistry and Science for over 15 years, including school teaching, tutoring and online teaching as well as mentoring trainee teachers.

Examining Experience

  • Richard has worked as an examiner for a range of exam boards, including OCR GCSE, OCR A A Level, Edexcel GCSE, Edexcel IGCSE and Edexcel International A level.

Student and Teacher Success

  • Richard is passionate about helping all students to achieve their potential. This includes supporting Level 2 and 3 vocational students to frequently exceed their target grades and has led to internal verifier roles alongside delivering various CPD for teachers on the delivery of vocational courses. He has also successfully taught and tutored GCSE students in all three sciences and A-level Chemistry enabling them to achieve the top grades.

Published work

  • Richard has co-authored a revision guide for the WJEC A-level Chemistry course. He has also worked with Harrow Schools Online and Pearson Online Academy to develop high quality educational resources for their online A-level Chemistry courses.
