About

  • Philippa has worked at SME since September 2021. Philippa started teaching in 2007 and has taught lower school Science, GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics and A level Chemistry. As well as this she has tutored many students for the National Tutoring Programme which helped those who required extra support during and after the lockdown in 2020 . She has examined for Edexcel. Philippa has a young family and quite often helps out at her daughters’ primary school with science lessons and introducing different scientific practical skills.

  • Philippa began her teaching career in a boarding school and in 2010 she became a boarding housemaster looking after nearly 100 students from years 9 to 13. This involved overseeing the welfare of those in her house and supporting them through their school career. She also completed a boarding school diploma (BSA) and mentored colleagues through their diplomas as well.

  • Philippa has always enjoyed playing a variety of sports and during her younger days played premiership rugby and was a part of the England U19 and England Students squads. Unfortunately injury hampered her playing career though this allowed her to take up coaching and refereeing. She is a qualified level 2 RFC coach and has helped developed many teams at school and county level. She has always enjoyed team sports, gardening and being in the outdoors.
