About

Education and work

  • Lára graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Biological Sciences and has now been a science tutor working in the UK for several years. She began her tutoring journey when she left secondary school and has always enjoyed helping students tackle the trickiest of topics in Biology.

Interests

  • Lára finds infectious disease and epidemiology absolutely fascinating; so much so that her dissertation focused on the Phylodynamics of the Chikungunya virus in the Americas.

  • Dogs are another massive interest for Lára. She really enjoyed learning about animal behaviour at university and loves to apply modern scientific techniques when training her own pooch, Seamus!

  • Lára loves to be active; on the weekend she can be found playing Gaelic football with her teammates or going for long swims in one of the outdoor pools in London.

Writing

  • Lára enjoys creating original educational materials that develop confidence and facilitate learning.

  • As a visual learner herself, she particularly likes to incorporate engaging images within her work to aid students' understanding of key concepts within Biology.
