About

Education and teaching experience 

  • Kate has a BA (Hons) degree in English from the University of Birmingham and a PGCE from the Institute of Education, University College London, where she was also a visiting lecturer. 

    As a Head of English and Performing Arts, she taught GCSE and A Level English Language and A Level English Literature for over 10 years and also worked as a private tutor. She also has a background in digital learning and has worked in educational publishing, writing exam skills and revision resources to support students in their studies.

Examining experience 

  • Kate worked at the exam board AQA for 6 years and has also trained as an AQA A Level English Language and GCSE English Language examiner. 

Published work

  • Kate has written a range of educational resources on vocabulary development and school transition for Oxford University Press, as well as hundreds of exam and revision resources for online publishers.

Student and teacher success  

  • As a mentor and trainer, Kate was involved in teacher training and development throughout her teaching career and has delivered workshops for teachers at national and regional education conferences. She is passionate about developing students’ literacy, oracy and vocab skills and loves sharing metacognitive approaches to revision to help students recall what they have learned and achieve their potential in exams.
