Edexcel Pure Maths: Topics Likely To Come Up in Paper 2 on 12th June

If you’re taking the Edexcel Pure Maths course, you will have already sat Paper 1 last week. We hope it went well.

To help you prepare for Pure Maths 2 tomorrow morning (12th June), we’ve put together a list of all the topics and subtopics that appeared in Pure Maths 1, as well as all the ones that didn’t, so you know where to focus your revision before the next exam.

They may retest topics that were tested before, so bear this in mind and be sure to revise everything thoroughly!

Use the relevant Topic Question packs to test yourself on the specific areas where you want to focus your revision.

Important things to note ahead of Edexcel Pure Maths 2

The obvious topics which haven’t been examined yet are:

  • Topic 3: Coordinate Geometry
  • Topic 9: Numerical Methods
  • Topic 10: Vectors

We would be very surprised if there wasn’t a whole question on each of these.

We would also be very surprised if there wasn’t a question on Parametric Equations (see Topic 3: Algebra & Functions).

The other big observation is that Pure 1 was very light on Calculus (Topic 7: Differentiation & Topic 8: Integration) so expect LOTS of this in Pure 2. In particular, look out for Connected Rates of Change…

Also bear in mind that Edexcel are at liberty to examine any topic again, or not at all, so these are only predictions.
